Dear Dennis,
I’d love to say that we will miss you, but it’s just not true. It was bittersweet leaving you behind. Despite the constant worry, financial drain and frequently dashed plans, you carried us to visit sites we never would have enjoyed without you.
Despite doing our due diligence, you were always a running contradiction - not really up for the hauling you were built to do. We were newbies when you came to us, knowing only that we needed a brute of a diesel truck to haul us.
Across the miles, you’ve needed face lifts and major surgeries. I’ve lost track of the times you’ve broken down; that’s not the kind of adventure we were seeking. There’s a large portion of the inside of you that’s new and shiny despite your sputtering and coughing. You always caused heads to turn.
It feels fitting you broke down in the middle of nowhere. This is how we started our 2020 journey, broken down and waiting, ants invading our trailer.
Farewell old fair weathered friend, farewell.
